My ornithological adventure began in 1999 when I gained inspiration to study birds during a bird watching day with a local bird guide whilst on holiday in Tobago.
I learnt my fieldcraft at Beddington Farmlands in Greater London after joining the site's bird group. I became the editor of the annual bird report during this period.
I completed a Diploma in Ornithology whilst working as a Volunteer Co-Ordinator with Para La Tierra at Laguna Blanca in Paraguay.
I was a bird guide for various clients visiting the reserve including students from the University of Miami who were studying for their Masters Degree as part of their Earth Explorers Course.
I also carried out bird surveys on the reserve and analyzed data for my own projects. This data has been published in professional scientific journals.
I have since obtained a qualification from the British Trust for Ornithology in Bird Surveying Techniques for Ecological and Environmental Professionals. I have also completed a nest finding course on the Knepp Estate.
I have created my own itineraries for tours to Europe, Southern Africa, South and Central America, Australia and New Zealand,
Since moving to Dorset in 2020 I have spent time developing my knowledge of the key migratory hotspots, reserves and local specialties in the county.
I work professionally surveying birds for Bardolf Farms Ltd and I produce the farm's annual bird report.
